The Happenings

The last 6 months have been a whirlwind of activity in the studio. We've put out three more "World Record" tracks with another in progress, recorded some seriously heavy duty new "Maps for Travelers"  (which is in its final stages and is seriously the best thing I have heard from our city in quite some time) and finally started drums for the new "Hostage Revolt" which is going to kill.

We've also done some more reorganizing of equipment/racks with more to occur. We hope to bring in a second Apogee Symphony to plant the Neve 5060's I/O on as well as a second patchbay. As it turns out, we have outgrown out 192pt. patch, which I promised myself I would never expand. Well, promise broken, folks. Let the outboard gear flow! Speaking of which, after years of searching and contemplation we just purchased a Focusrite Red3 compressor that will likely be used on the master buss for most of what we do. What's more interesting than the Red3 is that we bought it from none other than Tom Lord-Alge.  I think its safe to say that this is one of the "good ones". Input transformer and output transformer version, etc. Now if we could only get Tom's mind and ears we would be all set......

First Project: World Record

The lines have been checked, the Barefoots are in (my god, they are badass) and we're damn close to beginning our first project. It will be......drum roll please...........World Record. Or for those of you not "in the know", World Record is our own band.  You might be thinking that we are some selfish, self-centered bastards.  Does that even qualify as the first project in the studio? We say yes we are and yes it does. After all, that is the primary reason we embarked on this studio journey. For us to have a home base in which we can write, rehearse, record, mix and drink coffee in. Sometimes simultaneously. Did I mention we have a sweet new Kuerig machine? #ADD

Of course, its not ALL about our band, World Record. We also want to help other like-minded musicians/friends bring their music to life. But first we need to make sure that all this shit that we have assembled works. So there it is. We are glorified beta testers.  And we begin beta testing this week. To quote one of our favorite people on the planet, it's going to be "baller".

Progress

After quite a few long nights we are almost ready for prime time. The control room equipment is 90% wired and the live room an iso rooms are complete. All thats left are the remainder of wiring for the control room and arranging the guitar closet and the amp room. In other exciting news our Barefoot MicroMain 27s arrive tomorrow. Things are about to get interesting. We'll post some pictures soon!
